The fourth track from the Background Noise EP. Each song deals with an aspect of toxic relationships. This one was inspired by the story of how the Chinese Narcissus Tea (a rare and expensive green tea) was named. The story is about a young girl and a travelling magician and his attempts to entice her away from her own reflection. The song doesn't follow the story but imagines the thoughts of the magician after the relationship has ended when he realises she was a narcissist. Fantasy but based on the science and psychological research as far as possible.

Lyrics

I never knew the true you
Veiled by your cloak of illusion
Acting out characters you've never been

I lived a lie, it's true
Tangled in confusion
Doubting everything I'd seen, in between

Look at these things you've done
Brought out the worst in me
No fool like this old one
Drinking your Narcissus Tea

Good times, yes we had a few, but
Most of those were delusions
So many promises you didn't mean

Back then I never knew
How to end your cruel intrusion
But now I've made sure you can't intervene

Look at these things you've done
Brought out the worst in me
No fool like this old one
Drinking your Narcissus Tea

Scent of an orchid
More fragrant with age
Masks how much you're contorted
Inner child in a boiling rage

Forget these things you've done
Now that I've broken free
Go find some other one
To drink in your Narcissus Tea

Drink in your Narcissus Tea
